Agents, I’m not here to convince you that you should be getting better photos. That’s a conversation for another day.
Instead, let’s talk about something that doesn’t get enough attention—the relationship between you and your real estate photographer.
If you’ve found someone you vibe with, who consistently delivers and makes your job easier? You’ve struck gold. Keep them.
But if your current experience leaves you… underwhelmed? Read on.
I’m always a little surprised when agents comment on the little things I do—walking the property, helping with prep, even adjusting blinds, rolling up garden hoses, or hiding clutter to get a better shot.
One agent told me, “I’ve never had a photographer help me adjust the blinds before.”
That tells me something: helpfulness like that isn’t the norm. But it should be.
Does your real estate photographer walk through the home with you? Do they help spot distractions, suggest minor decluttering, or talk through the features you’re most excited to showcase?
Not every property needs this kind of hands-on prep—maybe you’ve hired a stager. But your photographer should still understand your style and your goals. They should make the process easier, not add stress.
Let’s be real: your photographer is an extension of your brand. They’re representing you to the homeowner just as much as they’re capturing the house.
Yes, we creatives can be a little “neuro-spicy” (shoutout to my fellow awkward conversationalists), but treating homeowners with care? That’s non-negotiable.
A good real estate photographer will appreciate the effort that homeowners put into prepping the space and will patiently guide homeowners (and agents) out of reflections and the frame without making it weird. That’s the kind of experience people remember—and associate with you.
Choosing a real estate photographer shouldn’t just about the final images. It’s about finding a partner who understands your business, your brand, and your clients—and shows up accordingly. The right photographer helps your listings shine and helps you show up as the polished, thoughtful agent you are.
Want to work with a real estate photographer who actually gets it? Let’s connect and make your next listing easier—and more marketable.
